A Guide to Destinations

Destinations can be classified by various physical features. Geographically, there are many destinations and countries which we call major destinations of the world. Therefore, when you talk about destinations, one should know what type of features that particular destination has to offer. Some destinations may have everything that you need for a vacation, while some other destinations may be too complicated and demanding in terms of accessibility, accommodation facilities and other things.

As far as the categories of destinations are concerned, they can broadly be divided into three categories – Historical, Urban and Cultural Destinations. According to geography, destinations can also be classified as Historical. Define and identify a particular tourism destination based on its past and its present status. Define and identify the scope of tourists and visitors to that particular destination, so that you can categorize destinations accordingly. Analyse and assess the complexity of that particular destination as a business product.

As far as categories of destinations are concerned, they are further divided into two broad categories of destinations. Urban and Historical destinations. The first category comprises of destinations in which the main attractions of tourism products (such as historical monuments, museums and art galleries, wildlife sanctuaries, national parks, etc) can be found in the city or town itself. Historical destinations are very popular among tourists, because they give them an opportunity to learn about the past history of a particular country or region. The second category of destinations comprises of destinations which are located within a big city or town but do not necessarily fall under the category of historical attractions.
